Veteran review after VA surgery

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had back surgery a month ago through the VA. The Veterans Administration assigned rehab for me.

An HCA person appeared. She set up rehab for Wednesdays and Fridays. One person showed up on Wednesday. There was no call for Friday, but on Friday I got a call for rehab on Labor Day Saturday.

I had already made plans. On Tuesday, I never received a call for the Wednesday appointment.

I called Wednesday and spoke to a supervisor. 'The problem was the holiday.' If you can't support...

I had gallbladder removal Tuesday and was sent home Thursday. They seem to rely on data for your situation.

Im not data but a human being.

No case manager to talk to or even come see me. If you want no community and are ready to die then this is the place.

Disappointed with service

I had a beautiful experience until last night. The nurse on duty, Niles, was having a bad day.

He seemed very confused and overwhelmed. He had me wait for hours to get an IV bag for surgery and for meds. I talked to the supervisor, and she said they were not understaffed or busy. Not sure what his issue was, but he maybe should have taken the day off.

He saw how tired I was and changed his tone the last 2 hours of his shift. Please continue with great service; just straighten out Niles. I will not let one bad experience change my opinion about your amazing hospital.

Thank you for your time. Todd Fishet, room 429b, 614-61*-***, 3948, patient for life.

NEGLIGENCE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

NEGATIVE 1 STARS. PUT MY SISTERS LIFE AT RISK!!!

My sister has a pre existing condition causing syncope episodes. She got herself to the ER and told them about her DX she was going to pass out and needed help. She was stumbling & they kept telling her to be patient and go sit. She said she couldnt and had to sit on the floor and put her legs up to help.

They yelled she couldnt sit there & talking to each other saying shes on drugs. They got her to a chair by force and IMMEDIATELY passed out onto the floor. After that, she gets admitted, they disregard everything she said about the existing dx while we continually told them she doesnt have seizures and gave them the specific diagnosis.they had a nurse training and & kept stating seizure dx even after i corrected her 10x. When she asked for help because she felt the symptoms again, the night nurse said she had to hold on bc there were patients that needed her more.

Kept messing up the dosage of her meds and doubled it. Neuro kept her 3 days trying to figure out a dx something ignoring what we said was already diagnosed 20+ years ago. Nurses never brought her meals because she was sleeping when food was served we showed her the prescription bottles with the correct meds, they said they cant trust it.

They didnt give her the anxiety meds yet LOCKED her into the bed as a fall risk while not giving her the meds causing a panic attack. I could write a BOOK on the nightmare 3 days.

Resolved: Billing department is unreachable

Updated by user Oct 20, 2024

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund.

Original review updated Oct 15, 2024

Received my credit of $588 from HCA Tomball yesterday! Thank you, thank you!I had a colonoscopy at HCA Tomball Hospital on 9/18/2024.

I was made to pay $588 upfront prior to the procedure. My insurance paid the claim 100%, so I am entitled to that $588 back. I have been calling Tomball HCA for three weeks now, multiple times a day, only to remain on hold for over an hour each time and no one ever picks up the phone. Can you please help me get my money back?

I need it for my rent.

Thank you in advance for your help. DOB 7/24/1962.

Bill paying

Updated by user Aug 02, 2024

If I can help it I will use a different company. Terrible billing issues across the board

Original review Jul 09, 2024

I was charged 1200 dollars for anesthesia after my insurance. I would have paid in full if they had given me a discount like Mission does (20 percent).

However, they didn't so I asked for a payment plan. They offered me to pay in 36 payments. I chose 12. After 11 payments were taken out by them, I received a debt collection letter for the last payment on the day the last payment was taken out of my account.

Seriously? Never again will I deal with them if I can help it.

Thankfully, another hospital will be opening in Weaverville soon. Shame on you, HCA!

Treated like a piece of crap yelled at by nurses

Updated by user Jun 26, 2024

They have never contacted me. I say again in my opinion Stay Away from this Hospital.

There nurses will yell and scream at you. At one point the nurse told me to hold my left arm out straight till morning, it was late afternoon.

How can you hold your arm out for close to 14 hours. You would think they would get in touch with me, but they don’t care.Respectfully SubmittedDJS

Original review May 27, 2024
Went to the HCA emergency in Longwood and they were great. I had pain in the center of my chest.

The ambulance took me to their hospital in Sanford and put me in a room, saying the doctor would be in 10 or 15 minutes. An hour and a half later, my wife had to go get them. The doctor berated me and called me a drunk because I have one drink every evening. A few years back, I was hit with infectious diseases and I had to be on antibiotics during an overnight stay.

The nurse was yelling at me because I had wrapped the IV line around me and would not help. She said if I tried, they would have me arrested. I have sat on the bench on both State and Federal levels - they are lucky I didn't have them arrested. They yelled at my wife, who happens to be in the top 10 of commercial lines insurance and is on the board of directors of Florida Workers Compensation.

In my opinion, stay away from this hospital - just look at their reviews.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dr. Douglas Schneider

EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address a significant matter regarding the employment practices at HCA.

As a committed member of the HCA team, I have observed a troubling pattern that raises concerns about potential instances of employment discrimination, particularly affecting the advancement prospects of black employees within the organization.

It is disheartening to note that despite the diversity within HCA's workforce, there seems to be a disparity in opportunities for black employees to advance in their professional pursuits. I have become aware of cases where black colleagues, who exhibit exceptional skills, qualifications, and dedication, have been overlooked for promotions or career growth opportunities in favor of their non-black counterparts. This recurring pattern has led to feelings of disillusionment and discontent among many black employees who feel undervalued and overlooked despite their hard work and contributions.

Furthermore, the lack of diversity in key leadership roles at HCA is a significant concern. The noticeable underrepresentation of black individuals in senior managerial positions reinforces the perception that systemic barriers hinder the progress of black employees within the organizational structure.

This situation not only hinders the growth and development of black employees but also compromises HCA's overarching goals of promoting diversity and inclusivity.

I firmly believe that addressing these issues is crucial for supporting the well-being and morale of black employees and maintaining the reputation and prosperity of HCA as an esteemed employer. It is essential to take proactive steps to ensure that all employees, regardless of their racial or ethnic backgrounds, have equal opportunities to excel and advance in their careers based on merit and performance.

CONSUMERS BEWARE! 56k = 1 pill & ex ray

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Massive corporate Greed! Even IF you Have insurance, LOOK OUT!

This corrupt GREED-driven Business charged me $56,000.00,

.

For x-rays of my neck, and back AND one pill.

I had car insurance, which covered part of the bill, and HCA St. pete General puts the screws to insurance companies BIG time! You may not know what youre in for. HUGE mistake TO go to their ER after a car wreck.

The $56,000 does not include the emergency ride to the hospital. They have the nerve to charge $56,000 for pretty much nothing. They did zero treatment. Except gave me one pill.

I cannot believe the public and the government puts up with this unbelievable gross blatant corruption in the medical system..

$56,000 for me to sit in their ER for an hour waiting to have the pictures of my neck and back. It took the doctor, maybe a half hour to drive to the hospital and a half hour to drive home and five minutes to look at the x-ray. He charged $8,000.00 for his one hour of time. GREED GREED GREED & Corrupt, corrupt corrupt,

This is a big reason why Car Insurance rates are absolutely out of sight.

Because when there is a little car accident, theyre going to charge you 56K even though they did next to nothing for treatment (one pill). Do the people who work at these corrupt businesses Have any idea how they are screwing the public over?

If you dont pay up, they will put a lien on your property. They will take you to court and sue you for every nickel and dime that they can get from you. Read all the fine print & find out what theyre going to charge you before using their emergency room.

Absolutely ridiculous. And I will badmouth them till the end of time.

Go find another Dr! - The Dr and nurses don't communicate- its impossible keeping up with referrals as they are always communicated incorrectly - which leads to many many many calls to finally get a half - *** result - the staff has contacted me multiple times after repeatedly telling me they would call me back and never did or had no idea why they were calling me back when they did - billing issues - stolen identity issues and bad communication - go elsewhere

Have an compliant

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I want to start by saying that I usually have pretty good service at the HCA Healthcare at Normandy Park, most times I am in and out and the problem that I come in for is usually resolved. But I recommended my daughter to go there and the service that she received from her nurse today is deplorable!!

I wouldnt have ever believed it until, I talked with her my self. My daughter came there in severe pain and an infection in her mouth and throat.

Now I do realize that it very limited things you can do because the emergency room is not a dentist but you shouldnt leave feeling like a low class citizen that you dont want to deal with and in pain. Not how you deal with in that profession.
